Physical Education has a major role to play in a student’s life helping them to achieve physical, mental and social wellbeing. We aim to promote sport for all and teach the students how to sustain a healthy lifestyle in later life.
The Department delivers the National Curriculum in Key Stage 3, (Year 9). All students in KS3 have 2 hours of PE a week. The focus is on introducing the students to a variety of new sports and their associated skills. Students learn key skills in individual and team sports. Students are encouraged to develop their talents further via the School Teams who play in the local leagues and competitions.
During lessons students take on a number of different roles namely the performer, official, leader and coach. Through this the student not only improves their skills and knowledge of the different sports but also improves their confidence and self-esteem.
Regular assessment occurs throughout the year.
