Art & Design

“The Arts matter; they make us who we are, they create communities. It’s through self expression and shared experience that we are able to define ourselves. The Arts communicate feelings and shape ideas. They comment and they invite comment. They lead the way, and they show us where we’ve been. They help us think.”

Art & Design subjects are regularly the highest performing subjects in both attainment and progress 8, not only in the school, but in the wider region. Central to this has been encouraging the students with the aspirational goal of chasing their dreams, that they can succeed in a creative subject and that it can lead to a rewarding and fulfilling vocational career. Key to this is our pyramid of learning, where we have our outstanding BTEC Diploma Level 4 in Foundation Studies- Art, Design and Media Practice, at the top of our learning tree.

Our annual Summer Show of all Creative students work, highlights the potential for personal exploration to our Yr9 students and to visiting First and Middle school students.

Our Art & Design subjects are: Art, Textiles and Photography.
FUS also offers these subjects at Sixth Form and Foundation Level, with further information found Here.
