Careers – Students

Throughout your time with us at Ferndown Upper School, you will progress through our varied Careers programme that includes a varied scheme of classroom work, visits to local employers and other events to make sure that you are fully prepared for the ever changing working world.

Within each year group our students learn a range of skills and knowledge relating to their next steps in life.

By the end of Year 9 you will have:
– Attended a Drop Down Day to learn more about your GCSE options choices.
– Had the opportunity to attend a Careers Fair.
– Received regular labour market information through tutor time.
– Received subject related careers education through your individual subjects.

By the end of Year 10 you will:
– Attended a Drop Down Day to learn more about the interview process.
– Had the opportunity to attend a Careers Fair.
– Received regular labour market information through tutor time.
– Received subject related careers education through your individual subjects.

By the end of Year 11 you will:
– Had a 1-1 Careers Guidance session with our Careers Adviser.
– Attended a Drop Down Day to learn more about your post-16 choices.
– Had the opportunity to attend a Careers Fair.
– Received regular labour market information through tutor time.
– Received subject related careers education through your individual subjects.

By the end of Year 12 you will:
– Had the opportunity to attend a UCAS Convention in order to learn more about your post-18 choices.
– Attended a Drop Down Day to learn more about your post-18 choices.
– Had the opportunity to attend a Careers Fair.
– Received regular labour market information through tutor time.
– Received subject related careers education through your individual subjects.
– Had the opportunity to attend a work experience placement.

By the end of Year 13 you will:
– Had a 1-1 Careers Guidance session with our Careers Adviser.
– Attended a Drop Down Day to learn more about your post-18 choices.
– Had the opportunity to attend a Careers Fair.
– Received regular labour market information through tutor time.
– Received subject related careers education through your individual subjects.

Careers Lead & Careers Adviser
At Ferndown Upper School you have a dedicated Careers Lead and Careers Adviser. Miss Giles is available for all Career related learning support that you may require. This can be helping with writing your first CV, information on local colleges and universities or to talk about your option choices.
