Letter to Parents 30.10.21

Dear Parents and Carers,

Changes to COVID-19 Safety Measures
I am writing to provide an update on a change to our COVID-19 safety measures from after half term. As you will be aware, there has been an increase in the number of COVID 19 cases both locally and nationally in recent weeks and we are aware that the return from the half term break could see an increase in cases.

Therefore, we have made the decision to reinstate the compulsory use of face coverings inside school, this includes inside classrooms, for all students and staff from Monday 1 November 2021. The only exemption will be when sitting down to eat in the canteen and staff may also remove their masks when teaching from their classroom 2m exclusion zones.

We will review this, and our other measures, after two weeks and will keep you informed about any changes.

Please can you send your child into school with a face covering from Monday 1 November 2021. We will have a small supply of disposable face coverings should your child forget to bring one in on Monday.

Those who are exempt from wearing a face covering (which we already know for years 10 to 13) will not be required to wear a mask and to help us with this we would ask them to wear their ‘sunflower’ lanyard.

For those parents of year 9 students who are exempt I would ask you to email Jo Taylor, our Deputy Head, to request this: This would also be the case for those parents whose child in years 10 to 13 has had a change in circumstances.

I would also like to remind you of the importance of testing before the return to school on Monday. Please ensure your child completes their LFD test on Sunday evening or Monday morning before returning to us.

Please note that if your child develops symptoms of COVID-19, you should organise for your child to have a PCR test via the NHS online portal or by calling 119. Your child should not come into school and must isolate until you receive the all clear.

I will also send another letter to you updating you on our start of term arrangements separately.

Yours sincerely,

Philip Jones
