Ferndown Upper School is a comprehensive school serving Ferndown, West Moors, Verwood, West Parley, St Leonards, and St Ives, and, and providing educational opportunities for students of all abilities from Year 9 to Year 13, and for Foundation Art students in Year 14.
Students transfer at the end of Year 8 from our three main Middle Schools (Ferndown, West Moors and Verwood Emmanuel), as well as from others.
Together with the First Schools in the Pyramid we work closely to ensure consistency of policy and practice, continuity and progression – for the benefit of all students.
The school’s standard number is set at 260.
We value each and every student, and work to ensure high quality education for all. We have high expectations for all children, and ask for the support and cooperation of parents in helping us to achieve our goals.
For the Sixth Form, the school is open to all students who wish to avail themselves of the opportunities on offer, and who show the commitment required for further study. The school has one of the largest sixth forms in the County and students have been consistently successful in recent years. Owing to our popularity we expanded our accommodation in late 2003 so that we can take in even larger numbers. All students applying for the Sixth Form are interviewed individually, so that courses can be planned to match their talents and aspirations.
A detailed Admissions Policy is available from school.
