Ferndown Upper School is a comprehensive school, serving predominately the Ferndown, West Moors, Verwood, West Parley, St Leonards and St Ives areas. Providing educational opportunities for students of all abilities from Year 9 to Year 13, and for Foundation Art students in Year 14.
Students transfer at the end of Year 8 from our three main Middle Schools (Ferndown, West Moors and Verwood Emmanuel), as well as from others.
Together with the First Schools in the Pyramid we work closely to ensure consistency of policy and practice, continuity and progression – for the benefit of all students.
The school’s Pupil Admission Number (PAN) is set at 260.
We value each and every student, and work to ensure high quality education for all. We have high expectations for all children, and ask for the support and cooperation of parents in helping us to achieve our goals.
For the Sixth Form, the school is open to all students who wish to avail themselves of the opportunities on offer, and who show the commitment required for further study. The school has one of the largest sixth forms in the County and students have been consistently successful in recent years. All students applying for the Sixth Form are interviewed individually, so that courses can be planned to match their talents and aspirations.
We provide a mixture of Level 2 (including GCSE Maths, English and BTECS) and Level 3 qualifications (a wide range of AS/A2 levels). Entry requirements to these courses will vary and depend on GCSE grades.
