Reminder – Thursday 6th is Y12 & 13 Parents Evening
Come and Meet CBBCs Ellie
On Tuesday 4th April, after school, between 3.30 – 6.30pm at the Dudsbury Country Club, Parley, Episode 9 of ‘Got What it Takes?’ will be shown live at 4.55pm and Ellie will also be singing.
This is the live vote day when there is only 24 hours to vote. Remember that children must have a CBBC account to be able to vote and this must be verified by an adult.
We think Ellie is amazing so can we please have your support in helping her to win.
New Intake Evening
We held our New Intake Evening this Thursday to a full hall, and it was lovely to meet our new parents. On the night we showed a video highlighting all of the events that have taken place at Ferndown over the last year. And so that our other parents may see this, we are putting the video onto our website for you all to view. Thank you to Mrs Milsom and Mr Banton for producing it.
Year 11 Revision Evening
Can we all keep stressing to our Y11 & Y13s that Easter needs to be revision time, we started the ball rolling on Tuesday with a very good Revision Evening, so thank you to Miss Bird and our core Directors of Learning for presenting that evening.
I have also been speaking to Y11 and the one thing they said they would like the most to help them was concise checklists of topics that they need to know, so can you make sure that they pick one up from their teachers.
Parent Focus Group Feedback
Our parents told us that they really like our uniform and think that the students look smart. They also thought that they came to school and left in a very orderly manner, which was great to hear. They were also happy for the school to insist on a no ‘vans style’ shoe policy, even for leather vans, so this is advance warning that from September any leather ‘vans style’ shoes will no longer be permitted.
House Leaders Programme
In December we launched the House Leader Programme to give students the opportunity to take on extra responsibility by working with both staff and students. Therefore in January we appointed 3 House Captains, 3 House Vice-Captains, and 5 Sports Leaders for each house.
Red House Leaders
Katie Putt (Captain), Abigail Dearlove (Vice-Captain), Naomi Melbourne, Farhan Miah, Katya Metelsky, Caitlin Moore and Olivia Peters (Sport Leaders).
Green House Leaders
Jaz Binning (Captain), Conor Crews (Vice-Captain), Saj Rahman, Ben Wreglesworth-Rendell, Liam Fredericks, Danny Kingsley and Jenna Seton (Sports Leaders).
Purple House Leaders
Grace Hill (Captain), Payge Howard (Vice-Captain), Jack Burton, Gabi Watson, Ed May, Scott Taylor and Abbie Corkett (Sports Leaders).
House Captains have been working with Directors of Learning to create House Competitions and students have already taken part in Maths and Science quizzes during tutor time.
Sports Leaders have also been busy helping the PE department with a variety of sports events, visiting other schools and showing leadership skills by working with younger students. The Sports Leaders have also recruited House Teams to compete in our weekly inter-house sports competitions on Tuesdays after school. This has been really successful this half term and currently the results table shows Red House leading in the overall points table.
