Jon Egging Trip to Bournemouth University
Mrs Edwards recently took a group of Jon Egging participants over to Bournemouth University, where they toured the fantastic new Student Union building (SUBU) and new FUSION building. They experienced what life is like at the University and found out about A Level requirements.
They also learnt about perception, identifying their strengths and weaknesses, leadership skills and invaluable interview techniques.

We are very proud of her receiving this award and it is testament to all of the time and effort Grace puts in to making our school a better place. Grace commented: ‘‘I had a lovely evening and am very flattered to receive this award. I was not expecting it at all and could not have achieved this without the support of my family, friends and school.
Well done Grace, we are all very proud of you.
Teaching and Learning
Proving that you can teach an old a dog new tricks, our staff had a recent teaching and learning meeting, were each teacher shared one or two successful strategies that they had implemented in the classroom. It was an excellent event with some really good ideas being shared, so thank you to Mrs Emms for organising it.

Free School Meal Application
Please may I ask for your support? You may not be aware but applying for Free School Meals is a very easy thing to do. Not only are the free school meals loaded onto your child’s ‘fob’ so that no other student will be aware of the fact but if a student is registered as receiving FSM, that would mean the school would receive an extra £935 in funding.
Therefore if you answer yes to any of these, you could be eligible;
- income Support,
- income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance,
- income-related Employment and Support Allowance,
- support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999,
- the guaranteed element of Pension Credit,
- Child Tax Credit (provided you’re not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190),
- Working Tax Credit run-on paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit or
- Universal Credit.
The process is all carried out online: https://www.dorsetforyou.gov.uk/free-school-meals and if you would like the school to support you in making your application then please do contact our Pastoral Managers.
