Government Performance Tables Released
The school performance tables were released this week and it was pleasing to see FUS confirmed as 5th best in Dorset for A*-C E&M, the new headline measure. Our result of 69% (we were 68% but this result has risen recently due to successful appeals) is also the best of all the six local upper or secondary schools, tying with Ringwood School for the top spot. We are now eagerly awaiting the release of the 6th form data to confirm what a successful year our 6th form had as well.
Parent Focus Group
The school runs a Parent Focus Group every half term, where I and another (rotating) member of my SLT meet with parents to discuss relevant topics and issues. The school uses it as a way to gain invaluable feedback upon how well it is doing, so that we can improve any areas that may require it. If you are interested in coming along next time then please email my P.A. Linda Papworth on, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sir Robert Winston Visit
On Monday 5th December at 2.00pm we will be having Sir Robert Winston visit our school, he is the internationally renowned biologist and geneticist and he will address a groups of staff and students in our School Hall.
Mrs Druce has arranged this wonderful opportunity and there will be more detailed information to follow.
It is customary for a school to make a donation to Sir Winston’s chosen charity, the Genesis Foundation Trust. This organisation carries out research into the causes of miscarriage, premature births and genetic illnesses. We will, therefore, be running an additional whole school mufti-day on Friday 2nd December to raise funds for Genesis.
Congratulations to Jenna Seton for being chosen for the U14s County Netball Squad.
Congratulations to Chris MacLaughlin who is now ranked No. 1 in the country for road race cycling, following his final race of the season last week, which is an amazing achievement.
