Ferndown Upper Students are Proud Winners of Tour Group of the Year Award

We were delighted to hear from Interski, that they had voted Ferndown Upper School as their tour group of the year for 2016-17. So a massive well done to all of the students and staff who went to Pila this year. We know how well behaved our students are but it is very welcoming to have it confirmed just how good they are.

Sustained Improvement in GCSE Results Recognised in the House of Commons

This year we had the honour of being one of 12 Secondary Schools in the south of the country who were asked to write an article for The Education Parliamentary Review.  This booklet is launched at a gala reception at the House of Commons in September and then sent to every secondary school in the country.

Although I could not justify the expense to the school of the £5,000 distribution fee, it was indeed an honour to be one of the dozen schools to be singled out for this acknowledgement. The reason for Ferndown Upper School being selected was due to its rapid rise in GCSE results, as you can see illustrated here.

STEM Days – Lego and Engineering Development Trust

Thank you to Mrs Bothamley for arranging another two excellent STEM days.

Congratulations to our Students of the Term

PE Thanks

Mr Hayter would like to say a massive thank you to all the students and parents who kindly donated their Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers to us.  After much counting, we had the grand total of 8,637 voucher points, which has enabled us to order some much needed additional PE equipment.  Thank you, this extra funding is vital for the PE department with the current restrictions of educational funding by the government.
